Mollie was rescued from the Fallon kill lot in Nevada. She appeared extremely traumatized and was pregnant. Placed in a chute, and haltered. Once on property she removed the halter with a tree limb. She was uninjured but remained untouchable. We had no history. Only her behavior and reactions to the environment around her. Her rehabilitation is ongoing. Her baby is now adopted and in a wonderful home. So Mollie can now begin to focus on her own recovery.
Mollie is an incredible educator. She provides us the opportunity to slow way down. With high sensitivity, we explore the world from her perspective. The world through Mollie's outward expression creates far more learning than I could have ever imagined. Spending quiet time with her is magical &
enlightening. This Photo of her & I was not an effort to halter her, but an exercise in presenting a human tool Mollie once ran from. Here she is a bit tense, but was not pressed beyond this moment. I will post a video of her acceptance of the halter over her nose, while free to leave. More to come. I will post updates, and share video, displaying her progress.
In efforts to support my mental health, I’ve been working to release pain and heal trauma, while also inviting more joy. I’ve found a program that supports it all, and horses are at it’s heart.
While healing from a recent surgery, I was looking for ways to bring more brightness into my life. Horses have always been an easy gateway to a lighter heart for me, but since I wasn’t in shape to ride, I had to seek a different approach. Zen-ergize Equine spoke to every philosophy I’ve been trying to expand on this healing journey, focusing on sensitivity, awareness, and living in the moment with an open heart. Horses naturally embody these concepts, and it’s contagious when you’re around them.
The best sessions come when we drop all our expectations. Sometimes the horses interact with us, sometimes not. And it’s okay. The good is happening as soon as you walk out into the grass.
Each horse is as unique as they are part of this fluid community. They are the essence of oneness.
Getting to know Denna, and each horse, has been an experience that words can’t describe. I just love it. It is pure joy.

Majesty was abandoned by his owner. We had limited information about his history. He was 24, purchased from a kill buyer and is an Ex-Charro dancing Horse. When I took over his care, he was extremely frightened. He did not want to be haltered, nor touched. We worked through his shyness, and continue to work through trauma. He has Cushings, Arthritis, and DSLD (Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Disorder) He and I focus on confidence building activities in every interaction. He is a brave soul.
Katniss was rescued from a Washington kill lot. She was extremely malnourished, with a foal at her side. Due to pneumonia her baby passed away. She was frightened and untouchable. The halter was burrowed into her face. Once her re-feeding program was underway her trust grew and the halter was removed. Not only physical but emotional and mental healing was underway.
This little guy was about 4-6 weeks old with his mom and yearling sister, all tagged for slaughter. He came in very frightened with limb deformity. His mom was defensive and had aggressive tendencies. We received them in March 2020. With the pandemic just beginning, this made treating him very challenging. Working with a conformation engineer, Brian Hyodo in Canada and a local barefoot trimmer Tod Rego. Placing an angle on the hoof while allowing Phoenix full run of his pasture. He began to self-correct. Phoenix is now two years old and will remain in my care until he is fully grown and can be evaluated through radio-graphs to confirm he will be safe doing weight bearring work. More to come.
His career ended after he sustained a Suspensory Injury. After years of this competitve lifestyle, he made it clear he would prefer a relaxed & playful life. And that is exactly what he maintains. His charm is undeniable, his wit unmatched & his ability to teach beyond the saddle, is incredible. Leo is now 27 yrs old & is bringing along his best best friend Phoenix. Leo has been an outstanding Uncle to many of our weanlings. Offering them guidance, companionship & play. When a new client wishes to simply learn about horses & the basics of care, Leo steps up. He is a gentle giant with great presence & I look forward to sharing him with all ages.

My session with Denna and the horses was nothing short of extraordinary. I have done meditation, Reiki, and other forms of healing practice and this experience was nothing like I have experienced before. I have known Denna for quite some time now and she is one of the most compassionate and caring humans I have ever met. You will immediately feel Denna's nurturing and healing qualities as soon as you meet her. She has a patient, loving quality to how she teaches about the chakras and how they apply to horses as well. You then get to experience this same love and healing as you meet the horses and experience their unique energies. Each horse is incredible, and a teacher in their own special way. Denna offers the amazing opportunity to experience this - in a beautiful, peaceful environment. Attempting to explain it further just won't do it justice. If you love animals and enjoy learning new meditative techniques, this is a must-try! I give Denna's Zen-ergized Equine my highest recommendation - if only the whole world could experience it, we would all be in a better place.

Harmony is an example of horse ownership gone wrong, due to family illness. Extended Family was not in a position to continue Harmony's care. Harmony was a broodmare for many years. Then became a lesson horse. Once injured she was put out to pasture without proper rehab. Now at 30 years old, she has a highly supported retirement. She is a wonderful teacher, especially in the department of Herd Dynamics. She also offers folks that are new to horses, a beautiful hands on experience with gentleness.
